First off, as Elsa Keslassy reports for Variety, Abdellatif Kechiche’s Blue Is the Warmest Color has won the prestigious Prix Louis-Delluc, voted on by a jury of 14 top French critics presided over by Cannes Film Festival president Gilles Jacob.
And then there’s a slew of other critics organizations that’ve released the results of their own rounds of voting in the past day or two. The Online Film Critics Society, founded in 1997 and over 250 members strong, is the largest and oldest Internet-based film journalism organization. The Women Film Critics Circle: 65 members, founded in 2004. The Chicago Film Critics Association was founded in 1990, the Toronto Film Critics Association in 1997. Nearly 50 members comprise the Southeastern Film Critics Association.
Just over 30 members make up the St. Louis Film Critics Association, and Kristopher Tapley has the list of their awards at In Contention. Along that line, the Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association (Guy Lodge), the Austin Film Critics Association (Guy Lodge), and the Phoenix Film Critics Society (Kristopher Tapley) all have around two dozen members; the Indiana Film Journalists Association (Kristopher Tapley) not quite that many.
