REFLECTIONS ON FILM CULTURE

DAILY | Cannes 2012 | Clip from Ben Wheatley’s SIGHTSEERS

The Directors’ Fortnight has posted a slightly disturbing, slightly amusing clip from one of their Special Screenings. Sightseers, featuring Alice Lowe and Steve Oram, is Ben Wheatley’s third feature after Down Terrace and Kill List. The official synopsis: “Tina has always lived a sheltered life with a possessive, meddling mother. For their first romantic holiday, Chris decides to show her England in his caravan. It’s quite a change of scenery for Tina. But the dream quickly turns to ashes when litterbug tourists, noisy youths and pre-booked caravan sites destroy Chris’s dream and all those who get in his way.”

You can follow the film’s progress not only at the official site but also at Wheatley and writer and editing partner Amy Jump’s blog, Mr. & Mrs. Wheatley, and via Twitter. As of Wednesday? “One more tech check then we’re done. Phew.” Premiere’s on May 23.
