Adrienne Shelly first made a splash in the American indie scene in the early 90s, starring in Hal Hartley’s The Unbelievable Truth and Trust. Eventually she transitioned to directing her own films, including Sudden Manhattan and Waitress. Her career and her life ended abruptly on November 1, 2006, when she was brutally murdered by a construction worker caught stealing from her apartment. She was only 40.
