Once we hit the 1960s, “It” girls predominate, and there is no longer one girl who defines the decade, though most film lovers would go for the poetic, politicized Julie Christie as a representative of Swinging London and all things Mod. Christie has always behaved like a liberated, independent woman, and she made for a refreshing change from the more hemmed-in, powerless “It” girls of the past.
