Reflections on Film Culture

The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards (2015)

The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards is a collection of testimonies to the misconceived, miscalculated pursuit of happiness in contemporary America. The characters of this world struggle so tragically to distance themselves from their beginnings, they find themselves a long way from nowhere.

Based on the novel by Robert Boswell, this cast of characters depict how isolated each of them really is, and how alone we’ve learned to become. This film is a collaboration with the students of the UCLA Graduate Film course taught by James Franco in 2013.
