Just in time for National Cat Day, we’re here to discuss one of the most egregious tragedies of cinema – the long, sad history of cat misrepresentation. If we’re talking about four-legged furry friends in movies, the conversation is usually around man’s supposed best friend, the dog. But just for today, Lassie can take a hike. This video essay pays tribute to the fierce felines in our lives and in our screens and offers an indictment of Hollywood for its anti-cat ways. Here’s to the crazy cat ladies, feline-inclined Bond villains, and most importantly, their adorable accomplices.
